Location: Sydney, NSW

Salary Range:  AUD 150,000 to 200,000

About the role:

As a Program Manager within the Lending business, you will be responsible for all aspects of your program(s). You will ensure the successful end-to-end delivery of the largest and most complex customer projects and internal change initiatives using a structured, controlled, tool and methodology based, scalable approach.. This role blends delivery excellence, domain expertise, commercial stewardship, and executive stakeholder management.

What you will be doing:

  • Taking full responsibility for all aspects of managing your portfolio of projects, including detailed budgeting and tracking, project administration and leading a diverse team of project managers, consultants and specialists day-to-day.
  • In conjunction with the Capital Markets stakeholders, initiate and set goals for programs according to the strategic objectives of the business, planning the programs from start to completion
  • You will ensure the product delivery program (BA, dev, QA i.e. ‘build’), the implementations projects and the support teams (Managed Services, Customer Services) are aligned
  • You will maintain effective dialogue at all levels of a client organisation, up to and including C suite, likewise within the leadership structure
  • Formulation, organisation and monitoring of multiple, large, often inter-connected projects
  • Oversight, composition and ownership of the delivery strategy
  • Responsibility for leading, mentoring and evaluating Project Managers and other staff
  • Strictly control and manage deadlines, budgets and activities
  • Assume full responsibility for the program performance and working to maximise program margin
  • Establish, refine and rollout 'best practice' policy and procedures for program/project management activities across the whole of Capital Markets operations

What you bring:

  • Substantial proven experience as a Program Director, having already managed complex, high value programs. Extensive knowledge of project management standards, processes, procedures and guidelines.
  • Understanding of IT project methodologies and life cycles, e.g., conversions, incremental, rapid delivery, classic or traditional waterfall phases of analysis, design, development, testing, implementation.  You should be able to describe confidently the context in which agile methods can be applied, the advantages and disadvantages.
  • Knowledge of financial services industry or willingness to use existing professional services experience in other bluechip industries to gain expertise in what fintech projects must deliver.
  • Skill in the use of negotiation techniques to reach agreement when there are widely-differing viewpoints; excellent analysis, problem-solving, team, conflict management and time management skills.
  • Energy, enthusiasm, confidentiality, discretion and patience to handle difficult situations and continue to drive important projects and programs forward over a long timescale when there are delays and setbacks.
  • Willingness to travel when necessary
